Backing Citi Field Casino, Sen. John Liu Highlights Skypark and $100M Commitment

State Senator John Liu announced on March 30 that he will introduce a bill in the State Senate this week to rezone the Citi Field parking lot, clearing a legal hurdle for the proposed Metropolitan Park casino project. In return, the developer has committed to a legally binding agreement that includes building a pedestrian overpass—“Flushing Skypark”—across Flushing Creek if the plan is approved. If not, the developer pledges a $100 million community compensation package.
